Welcome Darlene to the Santa Clara County Branch of the National League of American Pen Women
Member in Letters and Art since 2010
I am grateful for the warm welcome I received as a new member of the Santa Clara County
Branch.# I joined NLAPW when I lived in Hawai’i. After I relocated to Oregon, I changed my
membership to At Large.# At a National zoom meeting, I met Luanna Leisure and she
invited me to join the Santa Clara Branch.# I look forward to many years of meeting and
greeting present and new members. It is inspiring to interact with so many talented women.
After doing academic writing during my 20 years as a Professor at the University of
Wisconsin-Madison, I retired to Hawai’i in 1999. A decade later, I began being aware of an
interesting fantasy story line in my mind and began writing it soon after. It was an
occasional hobby for another decade and then the book became impatient with me and
began to seriously nudge me. Since I began “listening” to the book, the writing has been a
fun and all-encompassing part of my life.
A Crystal Saga Series: Books one and two, Tamara’s Crystals and Genesis Explored are
combined into one book, with more books in the works. Available on LuLu.com and soon to
